The Cameroon-Gambia match in Douala, counting for the quarterfinals of the 33rd edition of the CAN served as an adjuvant for the holding of this session of COCAN in Douala. For all stakeholders, it is necessary to ensure a good organization of the rest of the competition in general, and particularly this match where the many audiences of the economic capital and its surroundings will have the privilege to follow its national team.

After 44 games played since the opening of the competition on January 9th, activities are generally going smoothly, despite the incident that occurred on January 24th, 2022 in Olembe during the match counting for the round of 16 between Cameroon and Comoros, which unfortunately cost the lives of 8 people and many injured.

The site of Douala, which was congratulated through the Governor of the Littoral Region, chairman of the site committee, has so far hosted the activities of the CAN TotalEnergies Cameroon 2021. This site is preparing for the smooth holding of the match Cameroon-Gambia through the various committees that are at work. The “Infrastructures” commission is already reassuring about the quality of the pitch and the equipment of the Japoma stadium.

The “Ticketing” commission informs that the categories of tickets are already on sale. On this point, the president of COCAN recommended that the sale of tickets be conducted in all fairness and transparency, the option of free tickets being now evacuated. Regarding the medical aspect, the care is going on normally. MINSEP recommended that, in view of the large delegations that will be arriving in Douala, a special testing facility of Covid should be operational on the day of the match.

The security measures are considered for seamless coverage of the match Cameroon-Gambia.
