The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are stronger than the Scorpions of Gambia. They did not let themselves be bitten by the Scorpions like their predecessors earlier in this competition. For their ticket to the round of 16, the team coached by Tom Saintfiet was able to surprise their opponents by mounting counter-attacks from a very solid defense. Just one goal was conceded before the game against Cameroon, it was against Mali (1-1). In their last group game, they beat Tunisia before facing Guinea in the round of 16.

For this quarter-final against Cameroon, it was stifled from the first minutes of play. The counter-attacks tried were stopped by the central hinge led by the masterful hands of Michael Ngadeu Ndagui. The “commander” of the Cameroonian defense was accompanied by Jean Charles Castelletto. Their second game together since the beginning of this competition.

In midfield, the Portuguese technician, Antonio Conceiçao has aligned for the first time in this 33rd edition, the midfielder who beat Côte d’Ivoire in the qualifiers for the World Cup Qatar 2022. Zambo Anguissa, much-criticized lately, has done an elephant’s work alongside the Metronome Martin Hongla (decisive pass for the second goal of Karl Toko Ekambi in the 57th minute) and Samuel Oum Gouet, “the computer”. In attack, the captain Aboubakar Vincent in search of his seventh goal was accompanied by Nicolas Moumi Ngamaleu and Karl Toko Ekambi, double striker (already 5 goals in this CAN).

The first Cameroonian goal was scored in the 50th minute on a cross header from the Olympique Lyonnais striker, after a well-applied cross from the Standard de Liege fullback, Faï Collins, who will leave with an injury in the 82nd minute.

The Indomitable Lions dominated the game from start to finish. The team remains untamed in its African Cup. The five-time African champions will play the semi-finals against Egypt or Morocco next Thursday.
