The match started on the right foot. Both teams showed desire. The first shot on target is still Senegalese, but Hervé Koffi is not worried. As a response of the shepherd to the shepherdess, Burkina Faso retorts. The two teams give blow for blow.

The match is balanced with a slight dominance of Burkina Faso, as indicated by the possession at break: 50.5 for Burkina Faso against 49.5 for Senegal. Two shots on target for the Stallions against 3 for the Lions of Teranga. Five corners for Burkina while Senegal had only four in the first half. Earlier, Hervé Koffi was left with an injury and was replaced by Farid Ouédraogo in the Burkina Faso goal in the 36th minute. Despite this, the score was blank at the break.

The same rhythm resumed after the break. Neither team wants to give up. The game will lose intensity, Burkina Faso has released. The opening of the score of Senegal at the 70th minute is only a logical continuation of its domination. After a corner from the right to the left, in the scramble, Abdou Diallo, the Paris central defender gives the advantage to his team with a shot from the inside of the right foot (1-0). A few minutes later (76th), on a defensive error, Sadio Mane recovers the ball and allows Cheikh Dieng to salt the bill (2-0).

Blatti Toure gave hope to his team by reducing the score in the 82nd minute (2-1). The hope is short-lived because in the 87th minute, on a misunderstanding in the Burkinabe camp, Sadio Mane put the third Senegalese goal (3-1).

The Stallions have cracked to the fury of the Lions of Teranga. Senegal is the first finalist of this 33rd edition of the CAN and Sadio Mane finishes Man of the match. The second final in a row after that of 2019, lost against Algeria in Egypt.
