The Indomitable Lions get in extremis their ticket for the quarterfinals of this 33rd Africa Cup of Nations organized on their land. Despite their poor performance against a team of Comoros defensively solid and well seated at the exit of the ball, the foals of coach Antonio Conceiçao won 2-1. A victory that sends Cameroon to the quarterfinals but does not reassure.

Affected by several cases of Covid-19 in its midst, the Comoros team has evolved with a defender in goal instead of a goalkeeper. All its goalkeepers are affected by Covid-19. Orphaned of its coach, it is his assistant Younes Zerdouk who was on the bench. Nadjim Abdou, the captain of the Coelacanths, was shown a red card in the 7th minute of play. Despite this advantage, Cameroon could only manage six shots on target against a team reduced to 10 since the seventh minute of play, which has seven shots on target.

Cameroon’s goals were scored by Karl Toko Ekambi in the 29th minute and Vincent Aboubakar in the 70th minute. It was the first shot on target for Cameroon (1-0). Despite being outnumbered, Comoros was dangerous on several occasions. Unfortunately for them, André Onana was in his good moments.

In the 81st minute, Youssouf M’Changama reduced the score (2-1) with an impressive free-kick far away from the goal kept by André Onana. At the end of the game, the coach of the Lions is not satisfied with the performance of his colts. Elected man of the match, Youssouf M’Changama cries conspiracy and invites the Confederation of African Football to “ethics and fairness to save the soccer of our continent”.
