Impossible is not Cameroonian! The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have just achieved a “mission impossible” at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé by defeating the strong team of Burkina Faso. Trailing since the 24th minute of the game, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon conceded a second goal at two minutes of the break (43rd) before taking the third goal at the 49th minute (3-0).

While all seemed already lost in the minds of the few spectators who made the trip to the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium, the Portuguese coach Antonio Conceiçao began the second half of the game with two substitutions. Ignatius Ganago gave way to Moumi Ngamaleu and Samuel Oum Gouet gave way to Aboubakar Vincent. Cameroon pushes, Burkina resists until the 70th minute.

In the 71st minute of play, Stéphane Bahoken reduced the score (3-1). Until then, we do not sell dear the skin of the lion. It was not until the 85th minute of play with the goal of captain Aboubakar Vincent, the second goal of the Lions to begin to hope that Cameroon returns to the score. Two minutes later, Aboubakar Vincent scored his second goal of the game and his eighth of the competition (3-3). The Burkinabe cracked. Fortunately for them, the regulation time is only a few seconds and the additional time is only 4 minutes.

It is the penalty shootout. The Cameroonians are nostalgic of the penalty shootout of last February 3rd against Egypt, but decide to carry their team. After having conceded the first 2 shots of the Etalons, André Onana repulsed the 3rd shot of Burkina, that of Blati Touré and allowed his team to win since Cameroon succeeded in its 5 shots. Cameroon remains undefeated at the Omnisports Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium and finishes in third place as in 1972.
